The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is the only organization solely dedicated to electing a Democratic Senate. From grassroots organizing to candidate recruitment to providing campaign funds for tight races, the DSCC is working hard all year, every year to elect Democrats – and give President Obama the help he needs on Capitol Hill to move our country forward.Democrats have accomplished so much already: historic health care reform, the biggest overhaul of the financial sector since the Great Depression, legislation to get our economy back on track, and credit card reform. But Republican senators are using tactics like the filibuster more often than at any time in history and are blocking key reforms America needs. The loss of even one or two Democratic seats would make it that much harder to move our country in the right direction.
Our success in the past few election cycles has made all the difference. Since 2005, the DSCC has fought tirelessly to add 14 seats to our majority. The strong Democratic majority we built was essential for passing health care reform, jobs bills, hate crime legislation, equal pay for equal work and other pieces of President Obama’s agenda.
2010 offers unique challenges. The party holding the White House historically loses seats during midterm elections, and the Republicans are motivated after our historic victory on health care. That’s why the DSCC has been hard at work since day one. We’re fighting to protect our Democratic champions, and we’ve recruited outstanding candidates across the nation to fight for open Senate seats and to challenge obstructionist Republicans.

Harry Reid
Nevada Senator, Senate Majority LeaderSenator Harry Reid was elected Majority Leader in 2004. His skilled leadership in the Senate has delivered real results, including historic health care reform, new regulations of the credit card industry, student loan reform, legislation to get the economy back on track, a national service bill and preservation of our natural treasures.
Bob Menendez
New Jersey Senator, DSCC ChairBob Menendez grew up the son of immigrants in a tenement building in Union City. A product of New Jersey’s public schools and a graduate of the state’s universities, he has served as a school board member, a mayor and a state legislator. Since 1992, he has been fighting for New Jersey families in Washington, where he rose to become the third-highest ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives before joining the Senate in 2006. In November 2008, he was chosen chairman of the DSCC, where he has worked tirelessly to elect Democrats.
